Yoga Therapy

What is Yoga Therapy?

As we move through life we filter, process and internalize each experience; mostly without our conscious awareness. Sometimes our experiences cause emotional turbulence or physical pain and discomfort. Seldom do we realize how closely the mind and body are influenced by each other.

Yoga therapy offers a way to explore the relationship between your mind, your body and your life in a private context with a highly trained and certified practitioner. By combining contemporary psychotherapy with yoga techniques, yoga therapy facilitates the release of physical, mental and emotional tension.

What is a session like?

In a yoga therapy session, the practitioner gently moves and supports your body through a sequence of carefully selected yoga poses. While you are being supported in the poses, the practitioner guides you into a dialogue that invites you to explore the sensations, emotions, memories or images that are coming up. In this way, your mind and body have the opportunity to heal simultaneously through the release of both physical and emotional tension.

Each session includes an integration period at the end to assist you in processing your experience and exploring ways you can bring your insights into action in your daily life.

Sessions are tailored to meet your individual needs and are always offered on a one-on-one basis. They are usually 1 hour and 15 minutes, and clients are advised to wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.
